Rare Japanese Ranma Pair Deeply Carved Transom Screen Sugi Wood 68"

The Japanese Ranma is a decorative and functional carving used above a door way to allow airflow and light to pass though. They are exquisitely hand carved from sugi - Japanese cedar. A typical ranma may be from 1/2" thick to 1 1/2" thick. These two are unusual in that the single pieces of wood carving extends beyond the boundaries of the edges in all three directions at 3" thick.

It is approximately 67.5" x 14.5" x 3" and weighs in at 15lbs
