Signed Tea Ceremony Chawan Tea Bowl Gray Perlecent Transparent Glaze

This is a ceramic bowl known as a chawan (tea bowl) used in a Japanese chado (tea ceremony). Suitable more for the winter season, it’s thick walls allow the tea to stay warmer longer during the chill winter months. It has a very unique transparent perleslent glaze over highly modeled and sandy clay.

This chawan measures 5 1/2" wide at its widest by 3" tall.

Having been in storage for 70 years it remains in fine condition.
