Southeast Asian Unglazed Stoneware Jar Stamped Floral Rosette Decoration Ring Handles Hardwood Stand 3.5 Inches
A sturdy and well-preserved Southeast Asian unglazed stoneware jar of squat globular form, the short narrow neck flanked by two small applied ring handles at the shoulder. The entire exterior surface is decorated with stamped rosette or chrysanthemum medallion motifs — each showing a central boss surrounded by radiating petals — repeated across the rounded body in an allover pattern with intervening foliate or scroll fill. The decoration is confident and evenly applied, the stamping crisp throughout. The paste is a consistent buff-grey stoneware, unglazed throughout. Presented on a later Chinese carved hardwood stand with openwork apron, not original to the piece.
Dimensions: 3.5"H × 3"W (9 × 8 cm) Weight: [placeholder]
Unglazed stamped-decoration stoneware jars of this globular handled form were produced across a broad range of mainland Southeast Asian kiln traditions — the repeating rosette stamp motif appears in Khmer, Thai, and related ceramic contexts, and precise attribution without technical analysis is not always possible. Collected in China circa 1960s per vendor provenance.
Condition: Very good; all surfaces intact, both ring handles present and undamaged. No chips or losses noted.
A clean and characterful example of Southeast Asian unglazed stoneware — the allover stamped rosette decoration and compact handled form give it considerable tactile and visual appeal.
