This is a ceramic bowl known as a chawan (tea bowl) used in a Japanese chado (tea ceremony). It dates to the Taisho Era. Suitable more for the winter season, it’s thick walls trap more heat during the fill winter months. It has a deep clear signature of the potter.
This chawan measures 5 1/2" wide at its widest by 3" tall.
Having been in storage for 70 years it remains in fine condition.
