Tea Ceremony Chawan Tea Bowl White Over Rust Glaze 5"

This is a ceramic bowl known as a chawan (tea bowl) used in a Japanese chado (tea ceremony). It dates to the Taisho era. Suitable more for the winter season it’s thick walls allow the tea to retain more heat in the cull winter months. 

This chawan measures 5 1/2" wide at its widest by 3" tall.

Having been carefully stored and lovingly used it remains in fine condition.
