This is a Vintage Japanesetray Called an Ozen made of carved cryptomeria wood and lacquered in red and black.It is a square try with rounded corners painted with a Hibiscus flower and bird perched behind it in the center. Skillfully crafted and coated in several coats of red Lacquer on top then black lacquer on the bottom. The painted flower and the bird are sprinkled with mother of pearl, the leaves are coated with a fine layer of mother of pearl dust, leaving a twinkling shine. The back is all black lacquer including on the four legs in which it stands.
It is in very good condition.Measuring 12" square and 4" high (35 x 10 cm).
It is water prof and can be hand washed.It would still make a great serving plater for your next sushi gathering!
