Vintage Japanese 1916 5 Rin Imperial Pualownia Crest Bronze Coin Taisho
A guaranteed authentic and rare antique Japanese 5 五厘 bronze coin minted in Tokyo in 1916. Having the characters, "Dai Nippon" (great Japan) and Taisho year 5 (1938) with a clear crest of the paulownia mon (a famous family crest) in the center. On the obverse chrysanthemum blossoms and "five rin". Chrysanthemum blossoms symbolize Japan's imperial family and are often used on currency. This coin had one if the most limited runs of any in Japan during the 1900's. Only minted from 1916 to 1919. Overall, this coin is in fine condition with minimal wear, a very clear strike and freshly cleaned and polished. Measures 3/4" in diameter (19 mm). Approximately the size of a US dime.
