Vintage Japanese Hachiman Okiagari Doll Signed For Babies Weddings & Get Well 6"

This is one of the oldest toys made in the Kanagawa or Kaga region of northern Japan called a Kaga Hachiman Okiagari. It is given to newly weds, at the birth of a child or to someone recovering from an illness. It symbolizes the quality of perseverance since the doll itself can fall over but stand right back up (okiagari). It is made of a light ceramic and all hand painted with vibrant colors over an orange-red. This one comes with a display case and cushion.
