A beautifully balanced vintage Japanese ikebana (生け花) flower vase, crafted from bent wood and finely woven bamboo, made into a kago basket. These is a water proof insert with kenzan (from) to hold the flower stems. Designed for the Japanese art of floral arrangement, this elegant piece embodies the wabi-sabi appreciation of natural materials, asymmetry, and simplicity.

The basket features a cylindrical woven body supported within a striking double circular frame of bent wood, standing on four small feet. The refined geometric structure—two intersecting circles embracing the inner vase—creates a sense of dynamic harmony, symbolizing the unity of heaven and earth. The dark lacquer finish enhances the bamboo’s fine texture while lending the piece an understated, sculptural presence suitable for both traditional and modern interiors.

While originally intended for ikebana flower arrangements, this basket functions equally well as a decorative art object or centerpiece, embodying the grace and minimalism of Japanese design aesthetics.
