Vintage Japanese yunomi with vibrant Kutani-style overglaze enamel decoration

Japan, mid Shōwa period (circa 1950–1970)
Dimensions: 2"W x 2"H (5 x 5 cm)
Weight: 2.5 oz

A beautifully hand-painted vintage Japanese yunomi tea cup featuring colorful overglaze enamels in the style of 九谷焼 (Kutani-yaki) and traditional Imari palette influences. The surface is decorated with a bold central crest motif of classical court objects, accented by a bright red floral medallion and scrolling foliate elements in green and blue. The lower band is finished in deep cobalt sometsuke brushwork, enhancing the visual contrast and balance.

The cup’s compact cylindrical form and lightly celadon-tinted interior glaze create an elegant profile that feels refined in the hand. The rim retains original gilt detailing, now softened with age, adding character and authenticity.

A charming functional collectible suitable for tea ceremony practice, everyday use, or as an accent piece in a curated collection of Japanese ceramics. At the time of listing, two cups are available and sold individually.

Overall clean vintage condition with gentle wear to the gilt rim consistent with age and use.
