Vintage Japanese Mid-Century Modern Fish Lacquered Wood Lidded Box Salmon

This is a Vintage Japanese lacquer lidded box with over twenty layers of clear and black lacquer. Japanese lacquer is considered the finest in the world. The design featured on the lid is of five clean lined stylized hand painted and carved fish reminiscent of post war modernism. The interior is lacquered in tan, the rim and bottom are lacquered in black.

Having been in storage with exception to minor signs of use, it remains in good conditioning and in good polish. The box measures about 7" (17.5cm) wide,1 1/2"(3.5cm) tall and3 1/2"deep (9cm).
