Vintage Japanese Signed Chisel Laminated Forged Iron Blade 1/2" Nomi Red Oak
Vintage Japanese nomi are truly impressive in the quality of their steel. This exceptional Japanese nomi (chisel) was made many decades ago in the mid 20th century by a master Japanese blade maker in the tradition of the samurai sword, with high carbon laminated steel that holds an edge like no other in the world. It was used for precise paring and finishing of many kinds of wood joinery. This is a great size chisel for all around work. And a great size for detail work.
This chisel is made of a hand-forged lamination of white steel and wrought iron. The handle is made of a very hard durable Japanese red oak.
Length = 8 1/4” (21cm)
Blade width = 1/2” (12mm)
It has been well used yet well loved and is still razor sharp. With exception of oxidation and sign of past use, this chisel remains in very good condition. A great nomi you will enjoy for a lifetime before passing it onto another generation.
