Vintage Japanese Signed Forged 2 1/4" Kanna Plane Blade Samurai Steel Sharp
This high quality professional grade Japanese blade was made for a kanna plane, the mainstay of the Japanese daikusan (carpenter) c. 1950's. It was made by a Japanese master blade maker and is with Meijin ( 角利 ) or "Master" of laminated hand forged steel with the same process as is used to make traditional Japanese samurai swords. This blade states that it is 登録) or "registered". You can actually see the layers of lamination between the different types of high carbon steel in the blade (pictures 5 and 6). ***This blade has been expertly sharpened and is ready to work your next project or be further refined as needed. Please handle with care . ***Once you have used a Japanese kanna plane you will never go back to the western plane. With exception of sign of past use, it is razor sharp and in good condition, ready to be honed and fitted into a wooden dai of your making. Give it a new honing and you will be amazed at its razor sharpness. A truly fine vintage blade still having generations of life for its next masters. The blade measures 2 3/4" (7.2 cm) wide.
