Vintage Japanese Signed "Oka" Forged 70mm 2.75" Kanna Plane Blade Samurai Steel
This high quality professional grade Japanese blade was made for a kanna plane, the mainstay of the Japanese daikusan (carpenter) c. 1950's. It was made by a Japanese master blade maker of laminated hand forged steel with the same process as is used to make traditional Japanese samurai swoTThis is an early to mid 1900's (c1920's) Japanese kanna plane blade is ready to us. This is SHARP enough to shave with! Fully restored and professionally sharpened to a very fine edge it is ready to fit into a block and use. Very likely made of Tamahagane (玉鋼) iron sand steel with the hardest steel at the cutting edge.
The overall blade measures 2.75" (70mm) wide and 3.5" (90mm) long. The cutting edge is approximately 2.5" (65mm) wide. Old world craftsmanship for the new world craftsman!
