This is a ceramic bowl known as a chawan (tea bowl) used in a Japanese chado (tea ceremony). It dates to the Showa Era (c. 1950) and is signed by the artist, Mizukumo  (see pictures 8 and 11) on the bottom and back of the lid.

Suitable more for the spring and summer season. This chawan measures 5 1/2" in diameter and about 3" tall (14 x 7.5 cm). Having been in storage protected in the original presentation box with limited use for nearly 70 years, it remains in very fine condition.
