This is a ceramic lidded pot known as a mizusashi水指 (water vessel) used in a Japanese chado (tea ceremony). It likely dates from the 1950's or later. The hand thrown light brown clay is covered over both a Gary and off-white glaze in all very natural tones and then all over the pot is covered in calligraphy - symbols of good luck!
This mizusashi measures 5 1/4" in diameter and about 6" tall (13 x 15 cm). Having been in storage with limited use it remains in very fine condition.
