A shin hanga woodblock print by Bakufu Ohno (大野麦風, 1888-1976), published by Kyoto Hanga-in in 1952. The composition shows an ikebana-style basket arrangement of autumn maple branches, a large yellow spider chrysanthemum, white daisy chrysanthemums, dark red zinnias, and blue balloon flowers set on a black lacquer stand.

Ohno relocated to the Kansai region after the 1923 earthquake and became known for landscapes, farm-labor scenes, and nature studies rendered in the soft, painterly palette characteristic of shin hanga. This floral still life shows the same close observation of natural form and layered color found in his rural genre work, applied here to a more decorative subject.
