The composition shows farmers cutting rice in a terraced field, framed by a torii gate, a fruiting persimmon tree, and bamboo grass, with a baby resting in a basket under a parasol in the foreground.

Ohno relocated to the Kansai region after the 1923 earthquake and became known for landscapes, farm-labor scenes, and nature studies in the soft, painterly palette characteristic of shin hanga. This quiet rural genre scene is typical of his gentler, pastoral subject matter.
