Vintage Signed Kyusu Ceramic Red Clay Tea Pot For Ocha Sencha Genmaicha
This is a vintage teapot called a kyusu. It is used to informally brew daily tea.This one is made in the style of red clay used in chinese tea pots for thousands of years. Kyusu feature a tubular handle on the side to keep your hand cool and to easily pour out a warm cup. There is a ceramic screen sculpted into the base of the spout to catch big tea leaves as well (see pic 6). This one comes with a screen for easyr pouring and cleaning. There is a maker's signature on the side beneath the handle. This kyusu would make a lovely addition to your daily tea experience.
This teapot measures 4" (10cm) in diameter by 4" (10cm) tall. Its over all width including the handle and spout is 5" (12.5 cm). The handle of this kyusu has been delicately pieced back together at some point in its past (see pic 10). It still remains infunctionalGood condition.
